The international conference "Mapping and Assessment of freshwater and marine ecosystem services in Bulgaria" was held on 31.03.2017

The international conference "Mapping and Assessment of freshwater and marine ecosystem services in Bulgaria" was held on 31.03.2017 at Hotel Metropolitan, Sofia. The event was organized within the project FEMA, which is carried out with the financial support of the BG03 "Biodiversity and ecosystems" under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area. The project is implemented by the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research, BAS (IBER-BAS) in partnership with Remote Sensing Application Center – ReSAC, Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe – Bulgaria and Club "Economy 2000".

The aim of the conference was to present the progress and results of the project, to exchange experiences, as well as to identify the best practices in mapping and assessment of ecosystem services.

Joint Conference on Freshwater and Marine ecosystem services

We are pleased to announce that, within the project FEMA, we are organizing an international conference on Mapping and Assessment of freshwater and marine ecosystem services. The conference is scheduled for March 31st and will be held in Hotel Metropolitan, Sofia, Bulgaria.

The aim of the conference is to present the results of the project and to identify best practices in evaluation of ecosystem services. The conference also aims to gather experts from Bulgaria and abroad to share their experience in the light of ecosystem services with focus on freshwater and marine ecosystems.

The FEMA project was presented at International Scientific Conference "Mapping and Assessment of Ecosystem Services – Science in Action"

The International Scientific Conference "Mapping and Assessment of Ecosystem Services – Science in Action" took place in Sofia from 6 to 7 February 2017. Projects funded through the program BG03 "Biodiversity and ecosystems" of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2009-2014 were discussed during the conference. The conference aimed to bring together researchers from different countries to discuss the scientific aspects of mapping and assessment of ecosystems and their services.

Remote Sensing Application Center - ReSAC conducted a second training course within the FEMA Project

On 28.06.2016, in the conference room, in the office of ReSAC, 9 Kokiche Str., Lozenets, Sofia, a second training course on "Practical knowledge and skills for using open source GIS applications and Web-based GIS" was held within the project "Freshwater Ecosystem Services Mapping and Assessment in Bulgaria (FEMA)", financed under the BG03 "Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services", under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area.
